A little bit about me:

I graduated from Emerson College in 2002 with a B.A. in Theater Education.  After graduating, however, I went into social work, spending two years working at a residential addiction treatment program for Catholic Charities.  My work there entailed teaching child development and guidance groups, counseling parents on family issues, designing stimulating and developmentally appropriate activities for the children there, and (my favorite part) providing child care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children.

I eventually chose to pursue a career that would allow me to spend more time working directly with children: elementary education.  I completed a post-graduate program in teacher education at Bridgewater State College and became a Mass. certified teacher.  Following my completion of the program I worked in the Brockton Public Schools until the birth of my daughter in the Fall of 2005.

I chose to stay at home with my daughter because it didn't make sense to me to leave my child to go work with other children!  I became a licensed home daycare provider in order to do this while continuing to teach and nurture children.  I have training in child development, curriculum design, emotional and learning disabilities, First Aid, CPR, and several other pertinent areas.  I love to watch children learn and grow, and I can't wait to meet your child!

I chose to stay home with my daughter, but if I had to place her in daycare, I would want her to be somewhere warm and relaxed, where she could learn and explore without being over-programmed.  I strive to make My Second Home Daycare the kind of place where I would want her to be.
